Height Calculator
A versatile tool to convert, compare, and average heights in both Imperial and Metric units.
Understanding Height: Conversion and Comparison
Human height is a fundamental measurement used in everything from health assessments to clothing design. While seemingly simple, working with heights can be complicated due to the different measurement systems used around the world—namely, the Imperial system (feet and inches) and the Metric system (meters and centimeters). Our Height Calculator is a versatile tool designed to eliminate this confusion.
How to Use the Height Calculator
This calculator has three powerful modes to suit your needs:
- Convert a Height: The most straightforward mode. Simply enter a height in either feet and inches or centimeters, and the calculator will instantly show you that height converted into multiple formats (feet & inches, total inches, cm, and meters).
- Compare Two Heights: Want to know the height difference between two people? Enter the height of each person, and the calculator will display not only their individual heights in all formats but also the precise difference between them.
- Average Heights: Perfect for sports teams, classes, or families. Click the "+ Add Person" button to create an entry for each individual. The calculator will then compute the average height for the entire group.
How to Measure Height Accurately
For the best results, follow these simple steps:
- Stand on a flat, hard surface with your back against a straight wall.
- Remove any shoes or bulky headwear.
- Stand up straight with your heels, back, shoulders, and head touching the wall. Look straight ahead.
- Have someone else place a flat object (like a ruler or a book) on top of your head, parallel to the floor.
- Mark the spot on the wall where the bottom of the flat object rests.
- Use a tape measure to measure the distance from the floor to the mark.
